Professional experience. Human teaching.

I’m Robert Moutrey, a professional drummer, musician and sound designer with more than twenty years of playing experience.

I studied Popular Music at Leeds College of Music, graduating with first-class honours, and have toured and performed internationally. Drum Break brings that professional experience into a calm, practical setting designed specifically for adults.

Why I created Drum Break

Plenty of adults have always wanted to play an instrument but never found the right moment, teacher or environment. Traditional lessons can sometimes feel designed around children, exams or people who already identify as musicians.

Drum Break is deliberately different: clear structure, no judgement and enough challenge to create real progress.

How I teach

I explain things plainly, break coordination down into manageable steps and connect technical exercises to actual music. Lessons move at your pace, but they always have direction.
